Deccan Delicacy: Haleem

#AragmaPopupAtHome

The origin of Haleem (Harees) dates back to the 10th century as a part of the Arabic Cuisine. Although the method of cooking hasnt changed much, the flavours of this dish have evolved as the rulers mingled with the local population. Haleem is a porridge made with wheat, barley, lentils, protein, slow-cooked for atleast over 6 hours.

As we continue our one-pot, heat-and-eat, nutritious meals – we bring to you this special dish. The Haleem will be accompanied with fried onion, coriander leaves and a wedge of lemon. Finish your meal with a baked yogurt infused with saffron, cardamom and topped with toasted nuts.
